Objective
Produce 20-year small area and LGA-level population and dwelling projections to inform systems planning for the region’s electricity retailer.
Method
To produce robust projections across numerous fast-growing small areas, the integration of three modelling components was required: a probabilistic population model, an economic model, and expert opinion.
Solution
Advanced Demographic Modelling deployed a probabilistic population model. It used inputs from a regional economic model built by Geografia that measured the historical correlations between migration and economic activity. Regional migration experts were also consulted to fine-tune migration assumptions.
