Objective
To explore the characteristics, opportunities, challenges, and future intentions of HBBs in Nillumbik, supporting Council in developing policies, strategies, and programs that support HBBs as a dynamic and growing component of the local economy.
Method
An online survey was conducted to collect information from HBB operators across the Shire, with methods applied to ensure the findings were representative of the sector and validated against existing databases. The collected data was then analysed, including cross-sectional analysis, to develop detailed personas, providing a richer understanding of how different types of HBBs operate.
Solution
The research delivered new insights into all HBBs and the various personas. These insights informed a set of actionable recommendations for Council, aligned with relevant strategies, to support and strengthen the HBB sector.
