Dean uses data, statistics and machine learning to solve complex economic and infrastructure planning problems for clients.

EXPERIENCE

Dean started out as an economist, working for Geografia when a postgrad student at Melbourne University. Fresh from completing an Eric & Wendy Schmidt Data Science for Social Good Fellowship at the University of Chicago, he joined Geografia full time in 2016.

Dean leads the data science work for the team. His recent accomplishments include helping to develop a comprehensive online infrastructure demand model for the City of Melbourne, running the Spendmapp development program, building a python-based small area population forecasting model for the NSW Government and writing algorithms to predict driver behaviour for the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria. 

Dean enjoys employing his skillset in data science and econometrics to bring a highly quantitative and evidence-based approach to public policy decisions.

He’s building an AI robot at home with a plan to take over the world with it.
