The question

Australia’s first proposed offshore windfarm, and a construction and operational workforce whose local economic impact had to be modelled before it existed.

What we observed

A Vector Auto Regressive model was built to estimate the construction and operational jobs, gross regional product and value-add the windfarm could generate, tested across multiple scenarios of different work sites and drive-in, drive-out workforce configurations, modelled at local, regional, state and national scale.

What changed

The modelling gave the project a defensible basis for its economic-impact claims at the scale where new investment is most likely to displace existing activity: the local and regional geographies immediately around the windfarm.
