What this site records.
This website collects very little, and none of it identifies you. Here is exactly what it collects, who handles it, and how to stop it.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what happens to information about you when you visit geografia.com.au. It covers this website only.
Personal information you give us in the course of a commission is handled under separate arrangements with the organisation that engaged us. That covers survey responses, research participation, data your organisation shares with us, and the information behind our evidence platforms. If you have a question about any of it, or you want to know whether we hold something about you, write to info@geografia.com.au.
In this policy, "we" and "Geografia" mean Geografia Pty Ltd, ABN 33 600 046 213, of Suite 1, Level 21, 15 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000.
What the site collects
There are no forms on this website. We do not ask for your name, email address or any other detail, and there is nothing here for you to fill in.
Two things do record something about your visit:
- Google Analytics
- Records which pages you look at, how long you stay, roughly where you are, what device and browser you used, and which site or search sent you here. Your IP address is used to estimate your city and is not stored by us.
- Our host
- The site is served by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs. These include IP addresses and are used to run and secure the site.
Links to our LinkedIn and Facebook pages are ordinary links. They tell those companies nothing about you unless you click them.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two cookies in your browser. They let us tell a returning visitor from a new one, and they expire after two years.
The site sets no other cookies. Nothing here needs a cookie to work, so you can block or delete them in your browser settings and every page will behave exactly as it should.
What we do with it
We look at it to understand which of our work people come here to read, and to find the parts of the site that are not doing their job. That is the whole purpose.
We do not sell it. We do not use it to advertise to you, and the Google Analytics features that would allow that, including Google signals, are switched off.
We do not attempt to identify you personally from it, and the information is not detailed enough for us to do so.
Who else handles it
Google and Vercel both process this information on our behalf, and both store it outside Australia, including in the United States. Sending it to them is unavoidable if we use their services, and by visiting the site you are taken to agree to that transfer.
Nobody else receives it. We disclose information about your visit only where the law requires it of us.
How long we keep it
Analytics records are held for 14 months and then deleted by Google automatically.
Our host keeps its runtime logs for one day, after which they are gone.
How to opt out
You can block analytics cookies in your browser, use private browsing, or install Google’s opt-out add-on for your browser. Any of these will stop this site counting your visit.
The site does not currently act on "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals from your browser.
Asking us about your information
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@geografia.com.au or call +61 3 9329 9004 and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled a privacy matter, tell us first and we will try to resolve it. If we do not resolve it to your satisfaction, you can take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
If we change how this site collects information, we change this page at the same time and update the date below.
