Science Gallery Melbourne Study

The University of Melbourne

This was a challenging project to model demand for a new science and arts museum to be built by the University of Melbourne in Carlton, Victoria. It used student enrolment data, population forecasts, museum visit data and the Victorian Government’s travel survey data (VISTA) to derive catchment areas for the museum and estimate the probability of residents and students visiting. The results were used as part of a business case which successfully secured funding partners for the museum’s development. The museum had its soft opening in August 2017.
