Home Based Business Survey Report

Mornington Peninsula Shire Council

We prepared and rolled out an online and telephone survey of home based businesses (HBBs) in Mornington Peninsula, a region with a high proportion of businesses operating from residential areas. The analysis was used to inform the Council’s economic development efforts. It was interesting to see the ‘demography’ of HBBs, who was running them, why, for how long, what their concerns were and how the Council could help, While some HBB operators are happy where they are, some were keen to expand. With this information the Council was able to establish a strategy for assistance. The output is considered one of the more widely cited research reports within Council.
