Small Area Land Use Projections (SALUP)

A review and modelling exercise to test the viability of the 2019 SALUP population, employment and enrolment forecasts commissioned by the Department of Transport. The viability of an extensive array of forecasts by area and industry were evaluated to determine whether they fit into tolerances set by, for example, the capacity of land to absorb the growth; whether the figures summed to plausible aggregated totals and other validation checks. Using the SALUP results an automated checking system was built in Python that loops through the forecasts checking for outliers and flagging errors and anomalies (there were a lot!).
