Impacts of Climate Change

Life Without Barriers

A GIS and statistical analysis to model and map the potential climate change impacts on of over 400 facilities around Australia run by not-for-profit, Life Without Barriers. The analysis used Bureau of Meteorology data to estimate the potential effects of increased flooding, fire and extreme weather events on the client and worker catchments around each facility. It created an index of risk for each facility as part of a larger service plan. This is not just about coastal facilities or bushland settings being at risk. We have to also think about where staff and clients live and whether the transport network can get them safely to and from the facilities and services they need to access.
