loch sport population study

Wellington Shire Council

The study informed the strategic response to concerns about population decline in the town of Loch Sport on the Gippsland Lakes. Environmental, economic and social issues, together with public and private investment decisions, were closely examined to determine their potential to support sustainable population growth in the town.

Community engagement (through workshops, interviews and a survey) elicited ideas and opinions and a prioritised action plan was prepared. In some respects the work ended up being a reality check for the residents, who recognised the importance of having a shared and consistent plan for the town's future.
